I am obsessed with this pendant! She’s an antique piece, likely from the Edwardian era, crafted from 9ct gold throughout. 

The grape-hued stones you see are rhodolite garnets, which are a rather delicious purple variation of the more common almandine red garnets we see. Both are round mixed cut, with one fixed within the pendant and one dangling below, adding a lovely bit of a movement to the piece. I think they look utterly beautiful against the milky white pearls. 

The delicate 9ct gold chain is being sold with this piece, I believe it to be original and I can’t bear splitting them up, they are the perfect pair! It fastens with a dainty barrel clasp.

Hallmarks

“9CT” on both pendant and chain, tested as 9ct gold.

Condition

Good condition. I am impressed with how this pendant has been looked after, considering her age. The garnets have minimal wear to the surface and typical inclusions, I believe the fixed garnet at the top of the pendant may once have had a concealed back, of which part has chipped away. I don’t mind this as it lets more light into the stone, showing off the beautiful purple hue. The gold has softened in colour over the years and the chain is in good working order.
